Hunter-Clyde Watershed Group Water Quality Monitoring Data

The Hunter-Clyde Watershed Group Water Quality Monitoring project is designed to gather water quality baseline data and seasonal trends within the watershed. Water quality is collected using YSI probes, HOBO in-stream depth loggers (collects data in 15-minute intervals) and a flow probe at 6 locations throughout the watershed, and an additional 13 YSI only sites.

Data Collection Information

At all depth logger locations, depth and flow are taken at 10 points between left bank wetted width and right bank wetted width, using a metre stick and flow probe on a weekly basis. At these sampling locations, as well as an additional 13 YSI only sites, physio-chemical parameters are collected using YSI probes (temperature, pH, nitrates, dissolved oxygen, total dissolved solids, salinity and conductivity). YSI only sites are not accessible for four months during the winter. At each depth logger site there are in-stream HOBO depth loggers attached to metal posts that collect depth and temperature data every 15 minutes. These loggers are removed every four to six months to download the data and are then immediately put back in the stream. There is also a HOBO deployed into Campbell’s Pond during the summer and fall months to gather dissolved oxygen data within the pond.
