RBC Future Launch Water Quality Monitoring

Map and Visualize

Ducks Unlimited Canada’s (DUC) mission is to conserve, restore, and manage wetlands to benefit waterfowl, wildlife, and people. DUC has restored and secured over 45,000 acres of habitat in Nova Scotia (NS) through restoration, conservation, research, and education. This project was to assess the health and biodiversity of 5 rural community wetlands, as well as 1 urban community wetland all located in NS. Since 2003, DUC has been conducting wetland field trips for Grade 4 students at several wetlands in NS. Each year DUC employs 1-2 youth to assist with the delivery of this program and over time we have noticed changes in the biodiversity and potentially the water quality of these wetlands. Therefore, the goal of this project was to assess the health of these wetland sites during the Grade 4 wetland field trips, as well as other times throughout the summer months.
