Dataset

2022 water quality data collected for CIMP197

Map and Visualize

These data were collected in summer 2021 as part of a project to examine the effects of road dust on lakes located along the Dempster and Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highways. The data were collected in-situ with multiparameter probes as well as by taking surface water samples that were shipped to Taiga Laboratories in Yellowknife.

Data Collection Information

Data were collected from a boat at the deepest point of each lake. We measured turbidity, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, chlorophyll-a and temperature using a Manta+ multiparameter probe (Eureka Water Probes) at a depth of 1 m. At the same location on each lake, we also collected surface water samples to determine levels of dissolved organic carbon, dissolved nitrogen, dissolved phosphorus, and calcium. We filtered surface water samples through a 1.2 micron pore size glass fiber filter (Fisherbrand G4) and refrigerated them until they were shipped to TAIGA Laboratories in Yellowknife for analysis.
