Tetayut Creek Water Quality - Peninsula Streams Society
The Central Saanich Water Quality project aims to build community partnerships, and develop and implement sampling protocols for long term, community-based monitoring of the KENNES (Hagan-Graham) and Tetayut Watersheds. Water quality data is collected through portable water quality sensors and grab samples sent for laboratory analysis. This information is analyzed with historical data to determine water quality status and trends in the watershed. Water quality monitoring has been conducted in KENNES watershed since 2005, and since 2011 in Tetayut Watershed.

Data Collection Information
Various sampling meters are used to collect physio-chemical parameters at all locations: Handy Polaris hand-held meter (Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature), Hanna Instruments HI 98129 pH and Conductivity meter, and a Lamotte turbidity meter. A 1-litre grab sample of water is taken monthly from 3 sites from Tetayut Creek, and 2 sites from Hagan-Graham Creek and taken to a lab to be analyzed for fecal coliforms, metals, nutrients, Total Extractable Hydrocarbons (TEH), and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH). A sediment sample is taken from a site in both areas quartely.
