Dataset

Ducks Unlimited Canada Sustainable forestry initiative wetland road crossing water quality dataset

Map and Visualize

The study objective was to test the effectiveness of proposed best management practices used in wetland road crossings to maintain the natural hydrological regime of boreal wetlands. Study locations included various sites in the Duck and Porcupine Mountains in Manitoba and the Pasquia Hills in Saskatchewan. Water quality samples were taken at all sites as part of this project.

Data Collection Information

Water quality samples were collected from groundwater wells upstream and downstream of road crossings that were built across the center of boreal wetlands. Groundwater wells were first emptied by pumping out the water with an electric pump. Groundwater wells were left for 10 minutes to refill. Water was then sampled via a peristaltic pump.

Data Processing

No data processing/cleaning was undertaken to this dataset.
