Programme de suivi de la qualité de l'eau du bassin versant de la rivière du Nord

Le Programme de suivi de la qualité des cours d’eau d’Abrinord a été mis sur pied en 2010 à la suite d’une table de concertation qui avait constaté un manque de connaissances concernant la qualité de l’eau de la rivière du Nord et de ses principaux tributaires.
Ce programme permet d’acquérir des données scientifiques rigoureuses afin de dresser un portrait global de la qualité de l’eau, entre autres, dans une perspective de santé publique. Depuis plus de 10 ans, le programme évolue constamment afin de répondre aux besoins du milieu et de mieux comprendre les impacts de l’utilisation du territoire sur la qualité des cours d’eau. Grâce aux partenariats (communautaire, municipal, économique, gouvernemental) qui ont été développés au fil des années, le nombre de points d’échantillonnage s’est multiplié, permettant aujourd’hui de dresser un portrait global de la qualité de l’eau.

The Abrinord Water Quality Monitoring Program was established in 2010 following a roundtable that identified a lack of knowledge regarding the water quality of the Rivière du Nord and its main tributaries.
This program makes it possible to acquire rigorous scientific data in order to draw up a global portrait of the quality of the water, among other things, from a public health perspective. For more than 10 years, the program has been constantly evolving to meet the needs of the community and to better understand the impacts of land use on water quality. Thanks to the partnerships (community, municipal, economic, governmental) that have been developed over the years, the number of sampling points has multiplied, making it possible today to draw up a global portrait of water quality.

Data Collection Information

Les stations d’échantillonnage sont situées à des endroits stratégiques dans le bassin versant de la rivière du Nord. Ces localisations permettent de suivre l’évolution dans le temps des concentrations des paramètres mesurés et d'étudier l’influence des précipitations ou de certaines activités liées à l’utilisation du territoire sur la qualité de l’eau. Huit fois par année (d’avril à novembre), dont quatre fois lors d’un temps de pluie, les échantillons d’eau sont prélevés à chacune des stations en suivant un protocole scientifique reconnu et vérifié par le MELCC. Les échantillons sont ensuite analysés par un laboratoire accrédité par le MELCC. Le protocole d’échantillonnage est le même que celui du Réseau-rivières (MELCC, 2018).

The sampling stations are located at strategic points in the Rivière du Nord watershed. These locations make it possible to follow the evolution over time of the concentrations of the measured parameters and to study the influence of precipitation or of certain activities related to the use of the territory on water quality. Eight times a year (from April to November), including four times during rainy weather, water samples are taken at each station following a scientific protocol recognized and verified by the MELCC. The samples are then analyzed by a laboratory accredited by the MELCC. The sampling protocol is the same as the Réseau-rivières (MELCC, 2018).
