Point Pelee National Park - Marsh Water Quality

Carte et visualisation

Many processes and functions in wetlands are driven by water quality, this measure can therefore determine the composition and health of wetland species. Point Pelee National Park collects several parameters to monitor water quality in the park wetlands such as turbidity, total suspended solids, total phosphorus, total nitrogen, and specific conductivity.

Informations sur la collecte de données

A YSI probe (EXO2 Multiparameter Sonde) is used to collect data on physio-chemical parameters at all sampling locations (n=9). To assess additional chemical parameters, 3 bottles, one containing a 1:3 sulfuric acid additive, are used to collect grab samples from each monitoring location within Point Pelee Nation Parks marsh habitat. The collected samples are sent for analysis of nutrients, major ions and trace metals.
